What Is “DESAMEX Organic Chia Seed”?The DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA SEED sold by ORGANIC SOURCE, LLC originates in Jalisco, Mexico where it is grown by a farmer cooperative of almost 100 small growers at the request and with leadership by, Dr. Alphonso Palafox. Dr. Palafox is Chief Agronomist and owner of the organic production company DESAMEX. Dr. Palafox formed DESAMEX almost 15 years ago. Before that, both he and his wife Monica were the first OCIA organic inspectors in Mexico. DESAMEX has been producing and marketing organic flax, sesame, quinoa, amaranth and edible beans ever since. Dr. Palafox earned his Masters and PhD in AGRONOMY in North Dakota, where his specialty field was oil seeds.
As the supply has grown, there is now a modest supply of DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA (white) available for the US market with availability January 2011 with larger supplies being organized for production of both white and black/gray. ALL white and black/gray ORGANIC CHIA marketed by ORGANIC SOURCE will always and only be DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA and it will always and forever be sold with this name in order that our customers can always feel 100% confident in every aspect of the quality of the product, shipment after shipment and year after year. Furthermore, DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA will be exclusively sold to and marketed by ORGANIC SOURCE, which specializes in this product. White, or black/gray DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA? Which Should you Choose?White DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA is preferred by manufacturers where the color of their finished product cannot be contaminated with off colors that would result from milling. If colored specks are not a problem, the black/gray is acceptable. The actual physical and nutritional components of each are identical. White DESAMEX ORGANIC CHIA, or white CHIA of any kind, is usually in shorter supply since the seed has to be selected year after year to remove the colored seeds. DESAMEX has ongoing programs for purity of seed selection and breeding. Genetically all CHIA contains all colors, so the colored seed is always in greater supply.
